ABOUT
James is a Pacific Islander/American animator with a passion for traditional Western animation. He loves silly cartoons and making things move.
James grew up homeschooled on Guam and spent his early days playing Pokemon and climbing betel nut trees, vertically. From a very young age he had been surrounded by his grandfather’s Palauan storyboards that were hung around the walls of the house. His grandfather was not around anymore at the time, so it took a while for him to understand that someone had carved and painted them. The first time he took an interest in the art world was when he went online at the family computer to look for webcomics around 10 years old. At some point he had found out that real people work hard to make the art with their hands, and thought, “Wait, it’s not a magic trick? Wow! I wanna do that!” After that realization, he looked up all sorts of online tutorials and youtube videos, intensely studying an ever-growing collection of favorite artworks, and developing a love for learning more about drawing. Every day is a new opportunity to practice, and he strives to incorporate it into daily action towards positive growth.
